The Miami River Commission ’s (MRC) Greenway Subcommittee met Monday, December 13, 2004 , at 10 am , Lummus Park , 404 NW 3rd ST .  Dr. Ernie Martin chaired the meeting.  The attendance sheet is enclosed

I)   Walk Through / Site Visit of planned North Shore on-road Greenway” in the Vicinity of Lummus Park & Status of Miami River Greenway Historical Markers -

The Greenways subcommittee conducted a walkthrough of the planned Miami River Greenway area along North River Drive from I-95 – to the NW 5 ST Bridge.  The subcommittee reached consensus on the placement of the following historical markers:

  • Lummus Park – on north side of NW North River Drive , to the west of the main gate next to the curb cut
  • Lummus Park Historic District – North West connection between Lummus Landing and on-road greenway
  • East Coast Fisheries – North Western corner of site, next to proposed FDOT Flagler Pocket Park
  • Flagler Workers House – Bijan’s Riverwalk, next to fountain

 The Greenways subcommittee noted the importance of extending the Flagler Streetscape project two additional blocks to the west between the Miami River and I-95, two-waying that area, and removing old chain link fences blocking pedestrian access to the existing stairway up the southern side of the Flagler Bridge .

 II)     Status of Miami River Greenway Design Standards -

Mr. Kevin Brown stated Kimley-Horn and Associates (KHA) has completed 30% of the Miami River Greenway Design Standards.  Brown stated the City, KHA, MRC and Trust for Public Land will meet in the near future.

III)    New Business -

Brett Bibeau , MRC Managing Director, stated the City Commission concurred with the MRC’s following recommendations, regarding inserting the Miami River Greenway Action Plan into their adopted Comprehensive Neighborhood Plan, via the Evaluation Appraisal Report:

  • Inserting “ Miami River Greenway Action Plan” into Comp. Plan Policy PR 1.1.11
  • Inserting “ Miami River Greenway Action Plan” into Comp. Plan Policy CM 2.1.5
  • Inserting “ Miami River Greenway Action Plan” into Comp. Plan Policy CM 2.1.7
  • Inserting “ Miami River Commission ” into MCNP-2

The meeting adjourned.
