    GREENWAY SUBCOMMITTEE  AND QUALITY OF LIFE JOINT MINUTES:
  Minutes of meeting 		Mar. 10, 2003

The Miami River Commission’s (MRC) Greenway Subcommittee met Monday, March, 10 2003, at 9 am, in the Miami River Inn, 118 South River Drive.  The attendance sheet is attached. 

Lavinia Freeman, Trust for Public Land (TPL), stated TPL contracted Kimley-Horn and Associates (KHA) to conduct Greenway drainage analysis along the proposed Greenway route, along both shores, between I-95 and the 5th Street Bridge.  The drainage analysis currently being conducted by KHA, would be followed by construction documents for the Greenway in the same area.  TPL is currently reviewing the draft KHA contract for the construction documents, and the City of Miami’s required “Assignment Agreement” will be part of the contract, which is expected to be executed by March 14, 2003.  Freeman stated the estimated price to develop the Greenway along both shores between I-95 and the 5th ST bridge is $5 million, and the City of Miami and TPL’s available identified funding is only $100,000 short of that estimated total.  Freeman estimates groundbreaking for this section of the Greenway by Fall 2003.

The Greenways subcommittee decided the following two items will be included in their next agenda:

  • Curtis, Rogers and Associates to provide draft design of signage
  • Private Developers of the north shore Greenway will be invited to discuss linkage and design features

The Greenway subcommittee decided to switch their regularly scheduled meeting date to the first Tuesday of every month, 10 am at the City of Miami Riverside Center, 444 SW 2nd Ave, 3rd Floor Conference Room.  The next Greenway subcommittee meeting will therefore be Tuesday, April 1, 10 am, Miami Riverside Center, 444 SW 2nd Ave, 3rd Floor conference room.
