The Miami River Commission ’s (MRC) Executive Committee meeting was called to order by Chairperson Irela Bagué, on Friday, December 17, 2004 , 8:00 a.m. , at the Greenstreets Café, 3468 Main Highway , Coconut Grove , FL.

The MRC Executive Committee discussed and planned the January 10, 2005 MRC meeting at the Miami River Inn (118 South River Drive), starting at 11:30 am, with a special luncheon to honor and recognize former MRC members Senator Graham, Mayor Penelas, Bob Parks, Ellen Roth, Cleve Jones, Beau Payne, Janet McAliley, Theo Long, Vivian Casals-Munoz and Rene Garcia, and welcome new MRC members Senator Rudy Garcia, Mayor Carlos Alvarez, George Foyo, & Manny Prieguez.  The Executive Committee unanimously agreed to fund the estimated $1,200 luncheon for 60 attendees, and directed Brett Bibeau , Managing Director, to distribute e-mail invitations.  A January 10, 2005 , 12:30 MRC meeting at the Miami River Inn will immediately follow the 11:30 MRC luncheon.  The only item on the 1/10/05 MRC meeting agenda will be a review and discussion of the revised draft “2nd Annual Update” to the Miami River Corridor Urban Infill Plan.

The Executive Committee noted the importance of implementing the following Implementation Step, created in the “1st Annual Update” of the Miami River Corridor Urban Infill Plan:

  • “Request Metropolitan Planning Organization, City of Miami, Miami-Dade County, and the Florida Department of Transportation to conduct a North and South River Drive Corridor Study, to address the impact of developments, “on-road” Miami River Greenway sections, Miami River Corridor Urban Infill Plan transportation recommendations, marine industrial site access, dedicated transit loop route, improved signage, noise barriers / buffers, and all plans and projects for transportation impacting North and South River Drives.”

The meeting adjourned.
