  MIAMI RIVER COMMISSION
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND COMMERCE COMMITTEE MINUTES:
  Minutes of meeting
Nov. 12, 2002
3:00 PM
(THIS IS A PUBLIC DOCUMENT)

The Miami River Commission’s (MRC) Economic Development and Commerce (EDC) Working Group convened its regularly scheduled second Tuesday of the month meeting on November 12, 2002, at 2:30 PM, in the Rosenstiel School, 4600 Rickenbacker Causeway, Library Map Room.  Phil Everingham, MRC Vice-Chair and Brett Bibeau, MRC Assistant Managing Director, attended the meeting.

The EDC discussed the status of the 2nd Ave Bridge replacement.  Bibeau stated the Gilbert Southern, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), the United States Coast Guard (USCG) and the River’s shipping industry have been scheduling river closures via e-mail.  Bibeau stated he had not received any complaints regarding river closures, required for the 2nd Ave Bridge replacement, during the month of October.

Bibeau provided the EDC with a status report for the City of Miami’s adoption of an ordinance to provide local Enterprise Zone economic development incentives.  The City Commission has the second reading of the ordinance scheduled for November 19, 2002.  On November 6, 2002, the MRC Policy Committee unanimously adopted a resolution recommending the City Commission adopt the ordinance on November 19, 2002, in order to provide local Enterprise Zone incentives.

The next regularly scheduled EDC meeting was confirmed for the second Tuesday of the month, December 10, 2002, 2:30 PM, in the Rosenstiel School, 4600 Rickenbacker Cswy., Dean’s Conference Room.

The meeting adjourned.
